Classes at Penn State University are back in session and that means our residents have been making their way back to State College, Pennsylvania for another great semester here at The Station State College. While we hope everyone had an amazing holiday break, we were excited to help kick off PSU Spring 2022 the right way with a variety of residence life events!
On Monday, January 10th, we started off our Welcome Back Week with a Grab-N-Go Breakfast Bar in our clubhouse kitchen. Residents had their pick of individually wrapped breakfast bars, muffins, fruit, yogurt, cold coffee on the go, and juices! We had all our cold breakfast items on ice for residents to pick at throughout the morning hours. We had so many residents stop by while waiting for the bus that there were only a few yogurts left!
Day two of Welcome Back Week, we held Hot Cocoa and Coffee Bar in our clubhouse main lobby area. We had Dunkin Donuts coffee and cocoa with all types of toppings for a surprise. Some of the toppings included whipped cream, sprinkles, and more chocolate! Who doesn’t appreciate a little sugar rush in the morning? On such cold days in Pennsylvania, a warm beverage is always a nice bonus while waiting for the Cata bus to come around and take residents to class.
On Wednesday, we hosted Virtual Pictionary on our Instagram Live page. Sadly, only a few residents could partake in the event due to timing, but we still had fun and had a winner for an Amazon gift card! Moving forward we are trying to engage better with our residents on the property to host events in time frames where we can have more participation without clashing with class schedules.
For day four, we partnered with URBN Flavourhaus to give out individually wrapped sandwiches, salads, and chips in our clubhouse kitchen. URBN Flavourhaus is a local eatery inspired by European coffeehouses of the 17th century for gatherings for conversation. We wanted to apply those ideals to our residents and encourage everyone to stop into the clubhouse for some free food, to meet our staff, as well as other residents. The food was so tasty that we had nothing left!
Our very last event of Welcome Back Week, we offered up some sweet local treats with individually wrapped Insomnia Cookies in the clubhouse. We brought a local Penn State favorite from downtown to our area of Toftrees for a little pick me up for residents just beginning another semester.
It was an awesome week getting our residents geared up for a successful semester at The Pennsylvania State University! We love having the opportunity to provide a best-in-class, PSU off-campus housing experience to our residents, and hosting a variety of engaging events is just one of the many ways we strive to accomplish that. From the whole team here at The Station State College, we wish everyone an amazing Spring semester!
