The Penn State school year has just begun and we’re incredibly excited to have a new, amazing group of residents. To kick off a great year at The Station State College, we planned a calendar jam-packed with a variety of residence life events to give our residents and their friends the opportunity to meet and mingle with their neighbors and to enjoy spending time in our luxury amenities.
Week 1 – Meet The Staff Barbeque
For our first resident event, we held a meet the staff barbeque outside our pool area at our outdoor grills. Burgers, hot dogs, snacks and beverages were handed out to our attending residents. We had more than enough food for residents stopping by between classes, or for those just spending an afternoon at the pool!
Week 2 – Volleyball Tournament
Week two, we tried to tap into our residents’ competitive side and hosted a volleyball tournament in our sand volleyball court. Sadly, classes were just kicking off and not too many of our residents had the time for an afternoon competition, but we’re so excited to try again in the spring time!
Week 3 – Culture Pride Recipe Submission Cookoff
During our third week of resident events, we celebrated our diversity with our culture pride recipe submission cookoff. We had a few residents really go all out with their favorite recipes from their hometowns and home countries! It was so exciting seeing the different types of customs from around the world all within our community.
Week 4 – Yoga In The Courtyard
For our fourth resident event, we hosted a wellness get down with yoga in the courtyard. We had a beautiful day in the happiest of valleys with our instructor, Taylor O’Connor, for a relaxing beginner’s class. Thanks Taylor! We look forward to more Wellness Wednesdays with you in the future!
Week 5 – Paws For A Break
Week five, classes started really getting challenging for our residents, so we encouraged all of our 4-legged friends to stop by our clubhouse and “Paws for a Break.” We had pup-uccinos and treats for all of our furry friends when they came by.
Week 6 – Football Student Section Signs
Our very last week of our 6 in 6 events, we wanted to try something a little different. Penn State football was having their annual White-Out game versus Villanova and since we have the best student section in the world, we provided options for residents attending the game to make their own sign for the student section! Of all our arts and craft guru’s, one lucky winner won a prize for their sign making it on television during the game!
Our team has had such an amazing time getting to meet our residents over the past 6 weeks. Here at The Station State College, we strive to create the best experience in Penn State hosting a variety of awesome resident events is just one part of achieving that.
